POST EVALUATION MEDIA PRODUCTS

This is my post evaluation front cover. There is a few changes I have made since my previous front cover. Instead of my pug saying win 4 tickets, I have changes it to ''Win Leeds tickets" The reason for this change is because 'win 4 tickets' wasn't very clear and could have mislead the readers. The fact that it now states that they can win Leeds tickets, which is an indie-rock festival, they would be more inclined to buy the magazine since my target audience largely attend festivals. Also, I changes to the font of the text within the plug to the same font that is used in the banner at the bottom of the page. This allows my magazine to have more of a house style, and not only that, the style looks much better and easily read compared the other font which was thinner and looked crammed together, especially the word 'tickets'.
Before, the pull quote along with the anchorage text was on a slant. Originally, I thought this would look different and good. However, with asking some of my target audience, they stated they would prefer it if the quote was straight, as it did not look very professional. Therefore, the quote is now straight. I used the ruler tool on fireworks to ensure it was exactly straight. This now aligns with the conventions of a typical magazine, and has a better design.
The banner at the top of my page font has changed. I originally used a serif font, to show it was classical as the line states it is the leading indie rock magazine in the UK. However, I decided to change the font to a sans serif font. This now matches the conventions of and indie rock magazine, and it also will appeal to my target audience more as it looks more fun and relaxed, to fit with the laid back teenage stereotype.

This is the updated contents page. There is only one more change that I made from my previous. This was I edited the mini summaries. Before they were all very spaced out, however now they do not look as spaced out, allowing the magazine to look more established and professional.

This is the final double page spread for my media products. I have enlarged the amount of space I have used for the article. The blue boxes are wider and longer. I have done this to fully utilize the amount of space I had to work with. This was good as it made it look more professional. The first letter of the article that is enlarged 'C' has been changed from black to blue. This is something I saw a lot through my research, such as the Q magazine making their first letter big and red. I have done this too add more colour to my magazine and for it to meet more of the typical conventions. The font for the article looks more classic and fine, this makes it an easier read and more professional.
The final word of the article is the writer twitter username. I have made this a bit larger than the rest of the article to enhance the fact that NOISE is an up to date magazine that is in trend with the social media. This is something my readers would want from a magazine, and this is what the larger font is setting into the audiences mind.
The text next to the barcode is in colour instead of black which is was previously, this again draws the attention to it, since it is an interesting, exclusive video, and also, adds bursts of colour again to the double page spread.
I have changed the pull quote on the right of the magazine. Previously, it was the same quote which appeared on the front cover, but now it is a new quote, which is another factor which will make the audience want to read the magazine.

Front Cover

I realised that my front cover was a bit dull and neutral with the colours. So I decided to inject some new colour into it. Since my research shown that red was a popular colours, but it didn't work well as my main colour, I decided to just have the word 'ALL' in red. It puts emphasis onto the word which is good and also makes my magazine already look more colourful.
Also, my anchorage text wasn't very conventional before, so I looked at other rock front covers and realised that the pull quote was often on the top of the artists name, in a handwritten looking font. The artists name was the biggest text and stretched from one side of the magazine to the other, and a little summary of the article was placed below in a small font.
What else I changed was I moved my bar code higher up the page and this fits nicely there. This was done to allow me to stretch my banner across the whole page at the bottom, which the bar code previously disallowed me do.

Question 7

Look back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt from the progression of it to the full product?

View the slide show on the Scribd website by clicking here.
I have used Scribd to present question 7. This is because I found the most suitable way to present this answer was through a series of slides in a presentation. I made this initally on Microsoft Powerpoint and I then uploaded to Scribd, which enabled the powerpoint to be viewed online through a proffessional site and display.

I have used a presentation technology to show my progression from my prelimlimary task.

Question 6

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

For question 6 I have used the website Prezi. This is a creative and fun style of presentation. It allows me to add pictures and text and move around the page in an attractive way. Prezi is an example of technologies that I have learnt about from the progress of constructing the media product.
Other examples are fireworks, emaze, flickr and fotor.
