Editing Photos

I have edited some of my best pictures from my recent photoshoot. Here is how I did it and how they turned out.
I used the program Fotor. This is a website which allows you to edit your images  with various different tools. Here shows the progress of editing my first picture, I firstly used the smoothing tool and belimish tool to clear the skin of any flaws. I then used a tool called 'Eye Pop' which I found useful to highlight the eyes as this is what my audience will see first on my model.
I then tried out some different types of filters and colourings and the temperature of the model. I like the image in black and white and using the vintage filter.

The second photo I edited was a duo picture. I also used the smoothing tool for this image also. I then messed about with several tools on the website to investigate them. I have found things I do and do not like. I don't think the pixelation tool looks very well for a magazine as it hides the face, however it is an interesting look. I think the colour pop tool looks good as everything is in black and white except the inside of Manpreets jacket which is red. This is a typical colour for the indie rock genre so it looks good. Also, it is clearly showing it is a harrington jacket, which is a common clothing essential for indie target audience so this is a good idea.

New photos

Because of my old photos being taken on an iPhone iSight camera, I found that the quality of the image when putting on my magazine wasn't the the highest quality it could be. In order for my magazine to look proffesional and attract a good audience, I need to include images that are at a good standard.
The camera that I used was a Panasonic DMC FZ30. This was a much more professional way of taking my photos and allowed the images to be of a good quality. Here is a picture of the camera.

I have inserted a slideshow through Flickr showing all of the photos I have taken with this camera over the week. I have pictures of Conor Jarvis, who I have previously used. He will be the main image of my magazine.
I have also included other models now such as Emily Boustead, Laura Buckell, Thomas Cruickshank, Andre Akbarr and Manpreet Mehat. This wide variety of people allows my magazine to be more interesting. They all have different looks to them, different genders, races and styles but all still match the indie rock genre as this is quite a wide look as they all want to look 'individual'.
This will allow my magazine to be more diverse.

Created with flickr slideshow.

Problems on Fireworks

Problems that I faced whilst using fireworks was rotating the text. This is visible through the word 'OASIS'. This was a text that was already through fireworks. However, when I used fonts that are through DaFont.
I have done some research into how to do this and here is the results I found. Click the text, then modify on the top of the screen, then hover over transfrom and then choose 'Free Transform'. I am now able to rotate text that is not through DaFont.

December/January Feedback

Here is the feedback sheet for my work during January and February. They types of tasks are 'Research and Planning' for the front cover of my magazine. This is good as it clearly shows what grade I am working at and what standard each post I have done is at.
Also, my teacher, Mrs Mitchell, has written what went well with my blog posts throughout this period and how to make my work even better. How I felt about these tasks and all of this information given allowed me to make my own comment which states that I think I should carry on with working to the standard I am and keep up the consistency and to improve I should include language from what I am learning in my theory lessons.

Drawings of Contents Page

Here is something I drew to plan how my contents page could look. It includes all the key conventions of a magazine such as headlines, titles, images and numbers. I also included my masthead to allow the magazine to show what you're reading all the way through and attach that brand name. I have continued to use a lot of red as that is one of my house colours and have decided to add a reoccurring blue colour in my magazine. If there is too many colours it may look unprofessional and messy and that is not a look I want.
There is the slogan at the bottom to add to the recognition of the magazine.
The pictures allow the audience to familiarize themselves with the artists and bands that are in the magazine as this will make them want to read that page sooner.

Here I have made a double page spread version of a contents page.
There is a large blue contents page banner at the top which is in capital letters. I have a picture of two people, they are cut out and I have put text around their bodies explaining the pages.
The noise logo is in the bottOm left hand corner. This shows how it is part of the noise magazine and gives the magazine recognition. There is another image on the top right hand corner which is a feature article and has a little introduction to it and a large number. Underneath that explains what page every other article is on and has a green background to add colour to the magazine.

Contents Page Overview

Contents Page Layouts

Here are my designs or contents page layouts. I have made these on PowerPoint as I found it easy to move things around and have them in positioned how I like. They all include the conventions of a contents page but are all in different positions.

Contents Page Analysis

Contents Page Mood Board

Here is a selection of contents pages that i have found and put together to form a mood board. I have chosen these contents pages because they fit the similar genre to mine so they will suit well with my target audience. I like the features of them such as the use of red black and white, a lot of images to allow the reader to see whats in the magazine and useful information regarding the articles but not too much text.
